I really like that advertisement in which a neon light is used to create figures in motion. So the first night I had my new camera with me, I tried out something similar. Before these shots happened, I had no idea how to do them. They just happened - just happened as I was messing around with every feature on it, but I find them wickedly cool!

Hmm. Don’t tell me this sucks. This is my first try. I’ll try more, and then you can say what’ver you wanna say! ;)
For those wondering how I did this (lol), a dark room is needed with a single fluorescent lamp. Then set the aperture value to somewhere above 25. A higher value won’t let much light in. If you set a lower aperture, the picture will come out blank white. After this, select shutter speed “Bulb” (Shutter will stay open as long as you press the shutter button). Shoot and move your camera in the shape you wish to create the designs (what do you call them? ghastly art?), pointing your camera towards the fluorescent lamp.
Then leave the shutter when you are done with your art ;)
Constructive criticism is appreciated :D

I got the Canon XSi (450D) yesterday and have been experimenting with it a lot. Been shooting with it all day and took out almost four hundred shots - although only some of them very exceptionally good, with the rest I tried out different modes and settings. This is my first digital camera. Although I’ve used a film camera before, it was a piece of crap. This is the thing, I mean, it is an awesome gadget! Totally worth the money.
I’ll put up some photos that I’ve taken but first I’ll have to get the bundled software installed (Or I may get a card reader later. How much do they cost by the way?)
On a even brighter note, happy diwali to everyone!
